I'm just finishing up a project that will go up for auction for benefit our local UnitedWay. Local artist were given the task to decorate/paint a blank ceramic piggybank that will be presented at auction. I wanted my design to revolve around the thought of "American Dream" but I think I made my design decision without really thinking it through because the cut dollars bills took me 10 times longer than I ever thought it would...but in the end I really like the direction it's going which made it all worth while.
Today, I added the Acrylic Skins with the american flag image to the sides of the piggybank. The image is from my original artwork titled "Bright Stars". I took the scan into photoshop and changed the opacity and then printed it onto the Golden "Digital Grounds" medium.
I plan on adding a quote to the bank and also giving it a protective coat before delivering it to Unitedway next week
I will post photos of the finished pig and give details of the auction when completed. If your interested in trying Acrylic Skins, I highly recommend Patti Brady's book...Rethinking Acrylic. I guarentee you will be inspired to try many different techniques after reading this book...Have Fun Creating!!
Here are a few pictures of the finished piggybank titled..."American Dream".
I Decided to do a translucent green paint over the entire pig to tone down all the collaged money. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. It has been sprayed with a protective coat and is ready for delivery tomorrow.
