Instead of blogging today I should be sweeping up all the paper scraps that surround me...but this is much more fun...so here we go! The mess that is created when new Mixed Media pieces come to life is crazy but a necessary evil the way I work.
As you have seen in my past work, the target image has always been a graphic element that I've been drawn to, so I continue to explore this image in my work.
Both of the new target designs started with many layers of paper and even though I knew I wanted the target image at the center of the design, the rest of the design emerges as the layers of acrylic paint are added.
The above three images were also created using the same tecnique as the target designs. Sometimes changing several times until the right combination of color and typography create an interesting and balanced composition.
Other big news in the studio is our new agreement with Empire Art Direct. Based in Weston, Florida, Empire Art direct has been manufacturing Wall Art since 1948 and I'm very excited about our partnership and the opportunity to increase the visibility and availablity of my artwork. I will have more information on this partnership as it develops.
Over the next few weeks we will be preparing to head back to High Point to exhibit at The Suites at Market Square so stayed turned for more information and exciting new designs that we will debut. In the meantime, as spring and warmer temperatures are finally here, I plan to get outside and warm up after this crazy winter and I hope you have the opportunity to do the same. Enjoy!
