Organic Lighting

another studio rehab weekend...getting into the finishing details which means we're nearing the end of the remodel project...of course that's minus the exterior (minor detail)...anyway, back inside...(quickly) Jeff and I designed the lighting for the kitchen. We used rough cedar boards to construct the canopy and hardwired the junction boxes to an outlet to facilitate easy installation and removal of the shades.

I'm really happy with the way it turned out.  We also had in mind a couple of industrial swing arm lamps which will clamp through the slots when we originally designed it... but for now I like the look of the shades.

The shades were constructed using organic fabric that was printed using my original artwork and then I hand stitched the panels to the shades leaving the raw edge exposed.  I'm always inspire by "anthropologie" styling and I think that they definitely have that vibe.  They are currently for sale on my website.

Hope to get things pulled together before the Westend Festival which will take place on September the 18th and 19th.  I'm sure I'll be lucky to get half of the things done on my punch list...but I'll be open anyway enjoying the festival.  Come see me!
